For best results: Spread a 1 to 3 inch uniform layer of the soil conditioner over the existing soil surface.  Incorporate the soil conditioner into the soil profile using a garden spade or roto-tiller to a depth of 8 inches.  Extremely heavy clay might require a higher application rate.
